"Paths to Parsifal"
or the search for the holy Grail in the music between Orient and Occident

In the Orient meets Occident workshop young musicians from Arabic and European countries will be able to deal with the theme of Richard Wagner's "Parsifal": conquer the west European repertoire from middle ages and renaissance that is also  occupied with the thematic of "Parsifal". Besides that, the participants will learn and experience classic Arabic 12th century music from Al-Andalus. There will be many new jazz and pop arrangements and compositions of the mentioned repertoire to work with.

The participants for this workshop should be experienced in one of the following fields:

- historical performance praxis of European music (the middle ages, renaissance, baroque): singing, strings (vielle, viol), wind instruments (recorder, shawm, oboe)
- classical Arabic music: singing, Arabic instruments (ney, violin, kanun, oud, etc.)
- pop and jazz music: students that are interested in new arrangements, new composing and production with electronics
